Sources: Ben Simmons could rejoin Sixers this week

Been Simmons could be back in Philadelphia sooner than it was assumed and not as a visiting player.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, talks have progressed between the team and Simmons’ agent Rich Paul that could potentially have the disgruntled star back with the team as soon as this week.

Simmons time in the City of Brotherly seemed to be on the clock since the David Copperfield he pulled in conference semifinals against the Atlanta Hawks. Following the series, Simmons was subsequently and unceremoniously chucked completely under the bus by both head coach Doc Rivers and co-star Joel Embiid.

After expressing his desire to be traded, Simmons has rebuffed any communication efforts from anyone associated with them team.

There could be 31.5 million reasons and the lack of serious movements on the trade front that may be serving as the impetus for Ben’s sudden openness to return to the team.

As Simmons continues to sit out both games and practices he is not getting paid, the total of missed pay will climb to $1 million after he misses the team’s preseason game Monday aainst the Brooklyn Nets. Combine that with the slowness of the trade market, largely in part to team’s own bungling, through depressing Simmons trade value themselves and still trying to seek a King’s handsome for the three-time All-Star.
