Southern obliterates Ecclesia College 121-55

BATON ROUGE, LA –  Freshman Damiree Burns career high of 33 points on 14-of-19 shooting and four steals helped the Jaguars roll to a 121-55 win over Ecclesia College at the F.G. Clark Activity Center on Monday night.
 
Jayden Saddler and Isaiah Rollins each added 12 points for the Jaguars (2-2) while Ahsante Shivers chipped in 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Micah Bradfordadded nine points and dished out a team high seven assist. Coming off the bench and making his first appearance in a Southern uniform was Junior transfer James Edwards who had eight points on 3-of-4 shooting and four rebounds.
 
Amel Kuljuhovic scored eight points and led the team along with Burns and Saddler with six rebounds each. Darius Williams and Osa Wilson each had five rebounds to go along with four points. 
 
Southern, who was back at home for the last time tell January, previously wrapped up two road games at two 2019 NCAA Tournament programs in Murray State and New Mexico State is now 2-0 at home on the year. I thought we played really well in stretches,” said head coach Sean Woods “We started the game with a lot of energy but we have to learn to sustain it, we have a lot of new players and we are trying to find our rhythm and still learning to play hard for 40 minutes.”
    
Southern shot 55 percent for the game (50 for 91) and 32 percent from three-point range (7-22). The Jaguars shot 64 percent form free throw line (14-22) and dominated the boards with a 52-26 advantage.
 
Ecclesia was led in scoring by Zachary Mcgee and Nicholas Coble each had 15 points and the Royals shot 18-of-50 for 36 percent for the game and 5-of-22 for 23 percent from long range.

Up Next 
Next up, Southern will fly to the good life for three road game stretch. First up they will take on the University of Nebraska Friday Nov. 22 at 7:00 pm. Then head to Omaha for The Mainland Tournament at Omaha (Cayman Island Classic) starting Monday Nov. 25 at 7:00 pm and will face the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
