Pine Bluff, Arkansas — Southerns’ record breaking day spoils UAPB’s homecoming led by Kobe Dillon and Chase Foster. Final score was 34-7 at Simmons Bank Filed on the campus of University of Arkansas- Pine Bluff.

A game time decision on the starting running back, Head Coach Jason Rollins called Kobe Dillon‘s number and he led the Jaguars dominant rushing attack. SU pounded the ball all evening for 332 yards and three rushing touchdowns against the Golden Lions, led by Dillon with 268 yards off 14 carries and all three of the Jags rushing scores. With that performance Dillon breaks the SU single game rushing record. Craig Nelson added 43 yards off 10 carries for the Jags. Chandler Whitfield led the SU receivers with 23 yards off two receptions and Jamar Washington finished the day with 19 yards off four receptions and a score. 

The SU defense had a bend but don’t break mentality all season until today when the Jaguars front seven dominated the UAPB offense all game. The Jaguars had nine tackles for loss and three game changing sacks led by Ray Anderson with two sacks, two TFL’s and five tackles. SU’s secondary tortured UAPB quarterbacks all day, by picking them off four times led by senior free safety Chase Foster with three for 36-yards and Glenn Brown with one. FosterCamron PetersonJordan EastlingJakobi JonesBrian Jordan Jr. and Kennen Tate all finished the day for four tackles each. 

SU racked up 401 offensive yards (69 passing and 332 rushing) while the Golden Lions finished with 207 total yards (142 passing and 65 rushing).

The Golden Lions was led by Xzavie Vaughn with 87 yards passing and 28 yards rushing and the UAPB lone score.

Southern will be back in action with a four-game home stretch starting with Homecoming on Oct 23rd as they host Prairie View A&M University at A.W. Mumford Stadium. The game is slated for a 6:05 kickoff on ESPN+.
