Spurs will not trade Kawhi Leonard to a Western Conference team

You may want to slow down the Kawhi to the Lakers talk. That is because apparently if the Spurs decide to move their star forward, it will not be to a Western Conference team.

A report from NBA writer Chris Sheridan indicated that San Antonio has no intent of trading him within the West.

News of Leonard’s desire to leave San Antonio surfaced on Friday via Yahoo Sports’ Charms Charania.

Citing growing discomfort with the organization stemming from the handling of his quadriceps injury that limited him to a mere nine games this season. He left the team to get a second opinion and has been rehabilitating the injury away from the team.

Although there will be plenty of teams vying to acquire Mr. Leonard’s services, doubt over his health, concern over whether a team could sign him long-term( he has 20 million due in the 2018-19 season, and a $21.3 million player option for 2019-20) and even what the Spurs could get back may limit the number of teams that could seriously make a real play for him.
