Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: CT Man Robbed at Gunpoint While Selling Sneakers

The latest addition to our unfortunate collection of stories of sneaker-driven non-quality decision takes us to New Haven, Connecticut where an attempt to sell a pair of kicks nearly cost a man his life.

A Hamden, Connecticut man who made arrangements to sell a pair of Air Jordans instead found himself the victim of a robbery. According to New Haven Police Spokeman Officer David Hartman the 29-year-old victim told police he was robbed of a “couple of hundred bucks” at gunpoint after being cornered by three men.

Hartman said, “(The victim) said he’d planned to sell a pair of Jordan sneakers through a website named LetGo,” Hartman said. “He said instead of the planned sneaker exchange, he was cornered from three sides by men simulating they had guns. He said they took his truck keys and wallet. He said he struggled to get them back and was successful, all but for the cash inside.”

Another witness told police the three alleged robbers escaped to a nearby laundromat where one of the men asked her if the bill changing matching could break a hundred dollar bill. The witness also stated one of the men had a gun on him.
