Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Knoxville man arrested for sneaker robbery

Maryville, Tennessee is the backdrop for our latest edition of how the lust for sneakers fuels deleterious decision making, or as we call it, Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers. In this small town of under 30,000 in the Southeastern corner of Tennessee, a man posed as a buyer to rob someone selling sneakers.

The alleged victim, called police at 4:41p.m.Thursday, October 11th. According to the police report, she said she was selling two pairs of Air Jordans , valued at $460, on the “Offer Up” application and made arrangements to meet a potential buyer behind a home on Desimone Drive in Maryville.

She told deputies a price was agreed on at the meeting and then the “buyer” , a young man, showed a gun and told the victim he was taking the shoes and wouldn’t be paying.

Blount County Sherriff’s Deputies said they located the robber , identified as 18-year-old  Tre’Veon Bradley, at a nearby residence, along with a gun and the OfferUp application on his phone. He was arrested by deputies on a charge of aggravated robbery and is being held in lieu of $100,000 pending an October 19 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
