Sneaker fever can cause a person to get a job, work hard and save money to get the kicks they want, but when it’s turned in the wrong direction, it typically results in a series of events that ultimately lands it in the unfortunate annals of Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers. 

This sneaker fever led to a Lowell, Massachusetts teen being stabbed for a pair of Yeezys.

According to Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Jacqueline McCormick, Thursday Tyngsboro police to a home on Frost Road on a report of s stabbing. When they arrived, police spoke to the victim’s mother and brother who relayed to them that the 17-year-old victim was stabbed in the stomach area while attempting to sell a pair of Adidas Yeezy sneakers.

A Tyngsborough police spokesperson said that Dequan Hagen came to the teen’s residence to buy the Yeezys. Hagen tried to leave without paying for the kicks, which led to an altercation, according to a police statement. The statement also says that Hagen then went to his car and returned with a knife, kicked in a side door, stabbed the victim in the abdomen and fled in a silver sedan.

The victim’s mother said police her side garage door had been kicked in and the door frame broken, according to McCormick. She turned over home security surveillance footage that showed a male suspect approaching the side door wielding what appeared to be a knife.

McCormick said that officers noticed that it did appear that a struggle took place in the garage and there were blood drops on the floor.

ADA McCormick did not divulge the specific model of the shoe, the value or what the agreed upon price was.
