Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Sneaker sale ends in robbery

The latest edition of our never-ending journaling of unsavory sneaker-driven activities takes us to Stafford County, Virginia where a trio relieved a seller of his sneakers.

Sheriff deputies in Stafford County arrested three individuals Thursday night after they allegedly robbed a man of a pair of sneakers. Twenty-one-year-old Georell Hall, twenty-year-old John Gonzalez and a minor,17, were arrested , with Hall and Gonzalez being charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery assault by mob and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 9:59 p.m. on November 21, 2019, Sheriff’s Deputy Martin responded to a reported robbery. The victim told deputies that he agreed to meet three males at Colonial Forge High School to sell them a pair of sneakers.

Upon the seller’s arrival, he handed the shoes, ( the sheriff’s department told SneakerShopTalk.com it was a pair of Off-Whites) over to the suspects to look over, and it was at that point the trio began to assault the seller, knocking him down and kicking him in the head. However merely taking his shoes and beating them up was not enough for the thieves and they also stole the shoes the victim was wearing as well as his watch.

The victim saw the crooks, with both pairs of his shoes and watch, escaped in a vehicle, which he relayed to deputies. Deputy Martin located their vehicle soon thereafter and conducted a traffic stop and found the 17-year-old, as the driver and Hall as the passenger. The third suspect, Gonzalez, was located and identified by Sgt. B.J. Reed walking near a home.

Gonzalez and Hall were arrested and incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail with no bond; the 17-year-old was taken to and held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
