A Texas man was sentenced to six years for a 2015 armed sneaker robbery was sentenced to six years in prison earlier this month.
The case stems from a June 25, 2015 incident in which a 14-year-old boy posted on Facebook that he had a pair of Air Jordans for sale.
Police stated, “The victim advised that he listed two pairs of Air Jordan sneakers for sale on a Facebook message board and an individual named Torrance Evans responded to the post,”
The meeting to transcact was set to take place at the victim’s residence, but at the meeting, Evans, Christian Brown and three other males robbed the youngster a gun point. According to the police in addition to the shoes, the males also took his iPhone.
Evans, who 17 at the time of the robbery, was located soon after the robbery at his home, and police found a cornucopia of incriminating evidence- the stolen shoes, the victim’s iPhone and even the gun used in the robbery.
According to court records, Evans was sentenced to ten years in prison on January 5, 2016.
Brown himself was sentenced to ten years of deferred adjudicated probation on the first-degree felony charge. Unfortunately, for him, Brown could keep his nose (or his system) clean, repeatedly testing positive for drugs which violated the terms of his probation.
Brown’s probation was revoked by a judge during a hearing in the 27th Judicial District Court and he was found guilty of aggravated robbery and will serve six years.
One of Brown’s co-defendants also had his probation revoked. Marcus Anthony Herrera, who 17 at the time of the incident was sentenced to five years of deferred adjudication parole for his part in the robbery on January 14, 2016. Barely six months later Herrera was involved in another armed robbery, this one resulting in a man getting shot. He was convicted and sentenced to seven years and following his conviction, Herrera’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 10 years on the initial robbery.
The two other males involved in the robbery of the 14-year-old are on a deferred adjudication probation that are currently ongoing.
