Tom Jervis signs with Cairns

From nbl.com.au :

The Cairns Taipans have announced the signing of three-time NBL Champion Tom Jervis for their upcoming 2019/20 campaign.

The experienced 211cm centre commits to Cairns on a two-year deal, after playing for the Perth Wildcats and Brisbane Bullets, achieving averages of 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds across his six-year career.

Taipans Head Coach Mike Kelly said that he was pleased he could acquire Jervis’ signature, and that all of his winning traits were transferrable to the Cairns program.

“Tom is good player on both ends of the court. Tom frees up his teammates with great screens, rebounds well, and can really pass the ball. He plays hard all the time and has a proven team-first mentality,” said Coach Kelly.

“Signing Tom gives us a high-quality big man. We are excited to add Tom to Jarrod Kenny and Majok Deng. This is a great core and we will continue to add quality players that will help play a winning brand of basketball that the Orange Army will love.”

Jervis was first signed by the Perth Wildcats in 2013 and featured in all 33 games in his first pro season, helping them to the Championship and earning the 2014 NBL Rookie of the Year honour in the process.

He re-signed with the Wildcats on another two-year deal and helped them to the 2016 Championship (alongside Taipans assistant coach Jamie O’Loughlin and Jarrod Kenny) while claiming the Club’s Most Improved Player Awards in both 2015 and 2016.

The imposing big man was lured to Queensland for the first time for the 2016/17 NBL season, with the Brisbane Bullets committing him to a three-year deal.
