UNCG’s Kyrie Galloway signs with New Zealand Breakers

From Liam Santamaria at nbl.com.au :

With free agency underway, NBL Media’s Liam Santamaria is taking a look at each and every signing and breaking down what it all means ahead of #NBL21.

Signed by: New Zealand Breakers

The deal: Three years (development player in NBL21 then upgraded to full roster)

Age: 21

2019-20 team: University of North Carolina at Greensboro

2019-20 stats (per game): 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 39.8 FG%, 35.0 3p%, 77.8 FT%

Projected role: As a DP, Galloway will only receive spot minutes this season but the Breakers are high on this kid to develop into an impact player down the road.

Quote: “Kyrin is a really exciting player. He’s finished college and is still so young and talented. He brings athleticism and shooting and we look forward to his development over the next three years.” – Matt Walsh (NZ Breakers owner)

My take: A 6-foot-8 power forward, Galloway is the son of an American dad and an Aussie mum – both of whom were pro ballers. He possesses an intriguing mix of length, athleticism, shooting ability and defensive versatility. He can switch on the perimeter and is also very good at rotating to protect the rim. He needs to get stronger but the kid has loads of upside.
