Warriors serve Rockets 41-point beatdown in game 3

It certainly seems the talk of Stephen Curry’s basketball demise was greatly exaggerated. He had seemingly been out of rhythm over the past few games, and at least offensively, had not resembled the Stephen Curry we have grown accustomed to being amazed by. Curry had 35 points as his Golden State Warriors laid the smack down on the Houston Rockets 126-85 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals.

After a close opening quarter, the Warriors distanced themselves and took the first step in seizing control of the game with an 11-0 run to close the quarter. We were then “treated” to a second quarter in which it appeared both teams lost the ability to score. The Rockets were only 6 of 18 from the floor in that quarter and the 23 points the Warriors scored was their lowest scoring period of the contest.

The Warriors opened up the third quarter by going on a Curry and Durant fueled 10-0 run to push their advantage to 19 at 64-43. In this quarter we would witness Stephen Curry offensive brilliance; he connected on all seven of his shot attempts and score 18 points as the Warriors would ultimately go ahead by 21 headed into fourth quarter.

Golden State did not let up in the fourth quarter, outscoring Houston by twenty, 38 to 18 would win by a massive 41-point margin.

The Warriors reclaimed the series lead but the talk of the game was Stephen Curry appearing to come out of his funk. Here’s what Curry had to say of his performance:

There’s obviously that anticipation when you come in transition and you find an open look and there’s a collective hush in the crowd, especially in this building. It’s a cool moment. I was searching for it in the first half. I had plenty of opportunities, I just couldn’t knock it down. Third quarter it opened up. I’ve been doing it for a while. I won’t let two tough games shooting keep me frustrated.

Kevin Durant had 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while Swiss Army knife Draymond Green contributed 10 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists.

Game 4 takes place tomorrow from Oracle Arena at 8:00 P.M. EST.
