Week 10 SIAC Basketball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 5, 2019)– The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.

For women, Katie Krout (Spring Hill) was named Player of the Week, while Jessie Kee (Kentucky State) earned Newcomer of the Week.

For men, Justin Allison (Spring Hill) was named Player of the Week, while Tyrell Williams (Albany State) earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.

Women’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Katie Krout, Spring Hill
Forward  |  5’11  |  Redshirt Freshman  |  Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Krout has posted a double-double in all three of the Badgers games this week. For the week, Krout shot 29-for-52 (55.8%) from the floor, pulled down a whopping 41 rebounds, and scored a total of 66 points. Krout averaged 22 points per game and 13.7 rebounds per game this week. She also shot a perfect 8-8 (100%) from the free throw line to lead the Badgers to a 2-1 record defeating western division opponents, Miles and Central State.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Jessie Kee, Kentucky State
Guard/Forward  |  5’10  |  Junior  |  Indianapolis, IN

Kee averaged 17.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in recording back-to-back double-doubles last week for the Thorobreds. The Indianapolis native added six assists and three steals in Kentucky State’s split record against Oakland City and conference opponent, LeMoyne-Owen.

Men’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Justin Allison, Spring Hill
Point Guard  | 6’0  |  Freshman |  Pelham, Alabama

In the Badgers three games this week Justin shot 23-for-48 (47.9%), 10-for-27 (37%) from behind the arc, and 21-for-25 (84%) from the free throw line. In total, Allison scored 77 points, and had 17 rebounds. For the week, Allison averaged 25.7 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – Tyrell Williams, Albany State
Forward  |  6’9  |  Senior  |  Miami, FL

Williams has been a constant force in the paint for the Golden Rams. He scored 13 points in ASU’s win over Paine and 18 points in the Golden Rams tough conference battle against Morehouse. The Miami native pulled down 7 boards in each game to push Albany State to 8-5 in conference play.
