Week 7 SIAC Football Honors

 

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 15, 2018)Kelias Williams (Albany State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Chris Roberts (Kentucky State)earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Monday.

Christian Taylor (Benedict) was also tabbed Special Teams Player of the Week alongside Kevin Greenhow (Central State) who earned Newcomer of the Week.

OFFENSIVE – Kelias Williams, Albany State

Kelias Williams posted a career best 254 yards on 16-18 passing and three touchdowns as Albany State University defeated Morehouse College 41-19 Sunday afternoon at B.T. Harvey Stadium. Williams also carried the ball 10 times for 49 yards (32 net) and 20-yard rushing score, the Rams’ first touchdown of the game. At the 12:25 mark, Williams connected with Chris Hunt on a 29-yard touchdown pass, capping a 5-play, 75-yard drive for a 24-7 advantage. For ASU’s final score of the third, Habersham hauled in an 8-yard pass from Williams with 10 seconds left in the quarter.

 

 

 

 

DEFENSIVE – Chris Roberts, Kentucky State

Roberts finished with a season-high 12 tackles, seven solo and five assists, with three tackles for loss from his nose guard position. His final tackle, late in the fourth quarter, gave the ball back to KSU trailing 17-14 with two minutes remaining. The Thorobreds took the lead 93 seconds later, but ultimately fell with a late touchdown.
 

 

 

 

SPECIAL TEAMS – Christian Taylor, Benedict

Taylor blocked two Clark Atlanta field goals in the final five minutes of the game to help Benedict hang on to a 27-24 victory over Clark Atlanta.

 

 

 

 

NEWCOMER – Kevin Greenhow, Central State
Wide Receiver  |  6’3  |  205  |  Columbus, Ohio

CSU receiver Kevin Greenhow caught four passes for 152 yards and two scores in CSU’s 44-38 win over UNC Pembroke. Greenhow scored on the first play from scrimmage, taking a screen pass 70 yards for his first touchdown. Quarterback Trent Mays found a streaking Greenhow down the middle later in the first half for a 55-yard touchdown play
