Week 8- SIAC Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (January 22, 2019)– The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its men’s and women’s basketball Players of the Week.

For women,Reagan Jackson (Clark Atlanta) was named Player of the Week, while Mahogany Randall (Benedict) earned Newcomer of the Week.

For men, Jalen Mitchell (Clark Atlanta)was named Player of the Week, while Daniel Hill (Lane) earned Newcomer of the Week, released by the league office on Tuesday.

Women’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Reagan Jackson, Clark Atlanta
Guard  | 5’7  |  Freshman |  Chesapeake, Va.

Reagan Jackson, a freshman guard for Clark Atlanta University, scored 58 points in two games for the Lady Panthers last week. Jackson, from Chesapeake, Va., scored a career-high 30 points, pulled down five rebounds and handed out three assists in the Lady Panthers’ win over Paine and then had 28 points, including the game-winner with 13 seconds left, in CAU’s win over Albany State.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Mahogany Randall, Benedict
Guard  | 5’6  |  Freshman |  Pelham, Ga.

In the Tigers only game of the week, Randall scored 13 points, including game-winning free-throw, as Benedict defeated Paine 79-78. The Georgia native added three rebounds and one assist.

Men’s Basketball

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Jalen Mitchell, Clark Atlanta
Shooting Guard  | 6’6  |  Senior |  Lawrenceville, Ga.

Jalen Mitchell, a senior guard for Clark Atlanta University, totaled 44 points in two games for the Panthers last week. Mitchell, the SIAC’s fourth-leading scorer, had 25 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks for CAU against Paine and then followed up that game with 19 points, six rebounds and three steals against Albany State. Mitchell has scored in double figures in each of his last eight games.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK– Daniel Hill, Lane
Guard  | 5’10  |  Junior |  Jackson, TN

Hill, a junior guard, was the second leading scorer in the Dragons’ 68-60 win over Miles. The Jackson, TN native posted 12 points, four rebounds, and a steal. Hill shot 90 percent from the free-throw line (9-of-10) as six of them came in the final two minutes of the game securing the victory for the Dragons.
