The South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs went down to Orlando, FL to take on the Knights of Central Florida and UCF were anything but gracious hosts, laying a 94-49 beating on SCSU.
The Lady Bulldogs got off to a fast start taking a 7-3 lead. However, UCF soon pulled even at 7 with consecutive layups from Savannah Scott.
Heaven Harper’s layup pulled the Lady Bulldogs to within a point at 10-9 with 3:29 left in the period. That was the last field goal South Carolina State converted in the frame, as they shot just 3-17 in the quarter. Despite the abysmal shooting (17.65%) the Lady Bulldogs were only down by eight, 19-11 at the close of the opening period.
Central Florida opened up the second period on a 12-0 run extending their lead to 31-11 on another layup from Scott at the 3:15 mark. UCF built as much as a 23-point lead at 36-13 on a pair of Summer Yancy free throws with 90 seconds left in the half. UCF took a 40-19 lead into the break. It was another poor shooting period for the Lday Bulldogs, as they shot 3-18 (16.67%) from the floor.
The Knights continued to pour it on in the third quarter, building as much as a 41-point lead before taking a 72-33 advantage into the fourth quarter. The game’s final frame served as the final stage of a game that largely had become protracted garbage time as UCF went on to a comfortable 94-49 win.
Iemiyah Harris led a pair of Lady Bulldogs in double figures with 11 points, with Heaven Harper adding 10 points of her own.
