Howard Volleyball to take on Princeton and High Point this weekend

The Howard University women’s volleyball team is set to play against Princeton University (PU) Friday (Sep. 20) at 5 p.m., followed by High Point University (HPU) Saturday (Sep. 21) at 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.

MATCHUP PREVIEWS

HOWARD

HU (5-4) is looking to regain momentum after splitting (1-1) at the Blue Hen Invitational (Sep. 14-15).

Junior outside hitter Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) leads the Bison in kills, totaling 36 in the previous tournament against Marist College and the University of Delaware. She is currently ranked ninth nationally in total kills.

Senior outside hitter Dami Awojobi (Hempstead, N.Y.) continues to perform and produce for the Bison. During the Blue Hen Invitational, she totaled 19 kills and 20 digs.

Additionally, head coach Shaun Kupferberg is just one win away from an incredible milestone of 400 career victories.

PRINCETON

Princeton (2-4) is looking to bounce back after going winless at the Penn State Invitational (Sep. 13-14).

Sophomore outside hitter Kamryn Chaney (Chicago) led Princeton at the Penn State Invitational with a career-best 56 total kills and 37 total digs. Additionally, the Chicago native was just named Ivy League Player of the Week.

HIGH POINT

High Point (4-4) is looking to make a comeback after splitting (1-1) at the James Madison Invitational (Sep. 14).

Graduate outside hitter Dylan Maberry (Magnolia, Texas) was named Big South Player of the Week after totaling 41 kills, 23 digs, seven blocks and three service aces during the James Madison Invitational.

LAST TIMEOUT

At the Blue Hen Invitational, the Bison took care of business with a sweep of Marist College, 3-0 (Sep. 14), but fell, 2-3, to host Delaware the following day (Sep. 15).

McKinnon recorded her fifth double-double in the win over Marist.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Howard opens conference play with a pair of matchups down south. HU battles South Carolina State University Friday (Sept. 27) at 6 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m., start time against North Carolina Central University.
