The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) revealed its men’s basketball weekly awards where Howard University saw a pair of Bison recognized for their outstanding efforts. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Graduate guard Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) won MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Bison freshman Danas Kazakevicius (Vilnius, Lithuania) claimed the league’s Rookie of the Week.
Harris took home back-to-back awards after scoring a career-high 36 points in the win over St. Mary’s (Md.) Wednesday (Nov. 26). He shot an impressive 76-percent (13-of-17) from the floor while racking up seven boards, three assists and three steals. Saturday (Nov. 29), the New York product finished with 13 points and five rebounds at Mount St. Mary’s.
For Kazakevicius, he averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks against St. Mary’s and Mount St. Mary’s. In Wednesday’s win over the Seahawks, he shot 67-percent (6-of-9) from the floor and a perfect 2-of-2 from the charity stripe.
North Carolina Central’s Dionte Johnson earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Howard hosts Bowie State Saturday (Dec. 6) at 6 p.m., inside Burr Gymnasium.
