Larry Scott steps down as Howard head football coach

Howard head football coach Larry Scott stepped down to take a position at Auburn University as tight ends coach.

“I want to thank Coach Scott for his leadership of the Bison football program and the historic success achieved during his tenure,” Howard’s Vice President and Director of Athletics Kery Davis said in a statement. “I congratulate him on his next chapter , and on behalf of our student-athletes, alumni and supporters, I wish him the best”

VP Davis added that the University “will immediately begin a national search for our next head football coach.”

In his 5 seasons at Howard, Coach Scott compiled a 23-37 record and 12-14 in the MEAC. He led the Bison to a share of the MEAC championship in 2022 and Howard won it outright in 2023, advancing to the Celebration Bowl.
