North Carolina A&T’s Lewis Walker named CAA Rookie of the Week

Redshirt freshman Lewis Walker helped the Aggies net a pair of huge wins against Hofstra and Towson, averaging 28.5 points on .593/.700/.947 shooting splits to go along with 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists. 

In the Aggies’ 79-78 over the Pride, Lewis scored 24 points on 7-12 from the floor, including 2-3 from downtown and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. He also pulled down 7 rebounds and handed out a pair of assists. 

Saturday night against Towson, Lewis poured in a season high 33 points on 10-15 from the field, including 5-7 from the land of three. He knocked down 10 of his 11 free throw attempts, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists in A&T’s 80-73 win over the Tigers. The 33 points tied the NCA&T’s freshman single-game scoring record, which he set earlier in the season against William & Mary. 

Lewis averages a team-leading 18.8 points per game, which also ranks fifth in the CAA. 

Up next for Lewis and the Aggies is a meeting with Monmouth on January 29. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. est
