SEMO jumped on Tennessee State early and never took their foot off necks, as they put an 89-52 beatdown on the Lady Tigers.

The Redhawks defense causes problems for TSU all evening, holding the Lady Tigers to just 35% (18-52) and 25% (4-16) from downtown. The Lady Tigers als has a difficult time securing the basketball, as the Redhawks turned TSU over 28 times, which turned into 36 SEMO points.

After Kik Roberts’ layup tied the contest at 2 apiece, SEMO into a 17-0 run. By the time Tennessee State scored their next basket, a a Genesis Harris layup, the Lady Tigers were in a 19-4 hole. Tennessee State barely got out double figures with Amiyah Ferguson’s free throw just 0:14 left to bringing the score to 26-10 at the end of ten minutes of play.

After Icesis Thomas canned a three at the 9:19 mark, SEMO went on a 21-0 run that made the count 47-13 with 3:33 remaining in the half. Tennessee State put up another 8 points and limped into halftime down 53-21.

The second half was prolonged garbage time, with the Redhawks’ advantage ballooning to 41 in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers never got any closer than 29 points at any point in the second half before, mercifully, the clock struck 0:00 and the game finally ended.

Erin Martin was one of a pair of Lady Tigers in double figures with 18 points. Aaniya Webb was the other TSU player to crack double figures with 14 points to go along with 4 steals.

The Lady Tigers will look to end the season on a winning note when they take on the Skyhawks of UT Martin on February 28, with a 10:00 A.M. CST tip-off. UT Martin defeated Tennessee State 86-79 in their earlier-season meeting.
