After trailing for most of the second half, the Tennessee State defense put the clamps on late in the second half to pull off a come-from-behind win.  Tennessee State led for a long stretch of the first half with Little Rock briefly tying the game at 9 on a Cameron Wallace slam dunk at the 15:42 mark. The Tennessee State Lady Tigers were in control of the game in the first half, outscoring Little Rock in both the first and second quarters. However, the momentum swung toward Little Rock in the second half as the Trojans took the lead, answered every TSU run, and went on to a 60-54 win.  Tennessee State took an early 3-0 lead on Aaniya Webb’s three-pointer at the 7:50 mark. Dante Harris named OVC Co-Newcomer of the Week

Tennessee State guard Dante Harris, along with Southeast Missouri guard Luke Almodovar, was named OVC Newcomer of the Week.  In helping the Tigers to a 1-1 week, the University of Memphis transfer posted per-game averages of 19.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals on .552/.500/.1,000 splits.  In the Tigers’ contest against SIUE, Harris led TSU with 19 points and 3 assists. Tennessee State basketball doubleheader v Tennessee Tech postponed until February 2

As a result of Winter Storm Fern’s impact on the state of Tennessee, the men’s/women’s basketball doubleheader against Tennessee Tech, initially scheduled to take place Tuesday, January 27, has been postponed until February 2.  The tip-off times remain the same: the women’s contest starts at 5:00 p.m., and the men take the court at 7:30 p.m. Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled games will be honored for the new date.

Tennessee State beat Lindenwood 96-86 in a high-scoring affair Saturday afternoon. The Tigers shot a sizzling, season-best 60.3% (41-68) from the field and were also cooking from downtown, connecting on 50% (7-14) of their attempts from distance.  TSU jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before the Lions got on the board via a Dontrez Williams three-pointer. After a brief period of hot shooting early on, Tennessee State’s offense lost its edge, while defensively they were unable to sufficiently impede the SIUE offense, losing to the defending OVC champs 74-66 Thursday night.  The Tigers shot just 32.8% (22-67) on the evening and a putrid 18% (4-22) from downtown. , The SIUE offense had no such issues; the Cougars were an efficient 52.1% (25-48) from the field and 41% (7-17) from the land of three. For his on court exploits , Tennessee State guard Aaron Nkrumah was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week. In leading the Tigers to a 2-0 week the senior averaged 27.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals on .588/.833/.600 shooting splits.
