Second half surge powers Tennessee State to third straight win

After being down at the half, the Tennessee State basketball team picked it up in the second half, outscoring Tennessee Tech 49-30 on the second half to claim victory, 89-77.  Tennessee State jumped out to an early 13-4 lead and continued to show the way for the lion’s share of the half. Norfolk State’s Larry Vickers named to the Midseason Midseason Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Watchlist 

image via Matt Patterson Norfolk State women’s basketball coach Larry Vickers was named to the Midseason Midseason Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Watchlist earlier this week.  Vickers is in his 10th season and has recorded a 163-98 record. Coach Vickers’ Lady Spartans ball club is currently 17-4, including wins over Missouri and Auburn. Tennessee State women’s hoops fall to Tennessee Tech, 71-64

image via Tennessee State Athletics A rocky third quarter ended up being the Lady Tigers’ undoing as they fell 71-64 to Tennessee Tech.  After the game was tied early at 6 and 8 apiece, a 6-0 Tennessee State burst gave them a 14-8 lead with 2:59 left in the period.
