Our ever continuing chronicling of when the intoxication of new sneakers overloads their capacity for common sense takes us to Queens, where the NYPD is seeking three men who snatched the shoes off a teenager during a robbery.
The crime happened Saturday, April 28 at approximately 12:30 p.m. in Flushing.
The robbery was caught on surveillance video and shows the three miscreants pull up in a white, four door sedan whilst the victim is standing using his phone. The robbers jump out of their car and approach the teenage victim. One of the men grabs the teen from behind and then knocking him down.
As the victim lay on the ground, the men took the sneakers right off his feet.
They also took his wallet, which contained $10 in cash and a debit card, and then fled in the white sedan.
However that is not all to this story. The robbers, fresh off their latest heist, went to Image Sneakers, where they were also caught on camera, to attempt to sell the ill-gotten kicks.
The store would not buy the shoes- because they were fake.
David, an Image employee says the shoes they attempted to sell typically sell for between $1,500 and $2,000 but he didn’t purchased them because they were fakes.
