ITTA BENA, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State University football program enters year two of the Terrell Buckley era and has an exciting four-game home schedule as well as a return trip to the Chicago Football Classic for the first time in three years.

The 2026 campaign will begin on Thursday, August 27 down in the heart of the bayou as the Delta Devils travel to Nicholls for the second time in three seasons.

Next up will be the first ever meeting between Mississippi Valley and aspiring FBS member Sacramento State as the squad makes the trip to the West Coast to face the Hornets on September 5.

Valley will then partake in the Chicago Football Classic inside venerable Soldier Field on September 12. The Green and White have been apart of the event on seven separate occasions since its founding in 1997 with previous opponents being Central State (2023), Alcorn (2010), Alabama State (2009), Southern (2007 / 1997), and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2006 / 2005).

MVSU gets to play in front of the home faithful beginning the following weekend (September 19) as they renew their local rivalry series with the Delta State Statesmen.

SWACtion starts on September 26 in Montgomery as Valley State clashes with the potent Alabama State offense.

The defending Southwestern Athletic Conference champions, Prairie View A&M, arrive in the Mississippi Delta to kick off the tenth month on the calendar, October 3.

The men from Itta Bena are then H-Town bound on October 10 to take on Texas Southern on the road, having not visited the Tigers since way back in 2018.

The 73rd edition of Mississippi Valley State University’shomecoming is locked in for October 17, 2026 versus the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

MVSU will then have a bye week, hopefully to celebrate its Homecoming victory, before hosting a Halloween contest against in-state rival Alcorn.

Next on the docket for the Devils is to make the short drive down to Jackson State for a November 7 tussle with the Tigers.

Valley State will look to continue the trend of being a thorn in the side of the FAMU Rattlers when they travel to the eastern time zone for its final road matchup on November 14.

Finally, Senior Day will commence the regular season on Saturday, November 21 opposite Alabama A&M University.
