The “Banned” Air Jordan 1 Low OG is set to debut in May, continuing the legacy of its 2011 higher-collared predecessor.
This low-top keeps the classic “Banned” colorway you know and love: red at the toe, bold black covering the rest of the upper, and large side Swooshes wrapping the heel.
A standout feature? The large red “X” stamped on each rear heel, replacing the traditional wings logo, referencing the iconic moment on January 15, 1984, when the original NIKE Air Ship was banned by the NBA.
The insoles carry the history, with a big red “X” stamped over the phrase:
“On January 15, 1984, Nike created a revolutionary brand-new basketball shoe” – a line straight from the original 1984 “Banned” Air Jordan 1 commercial.
Jordan Brand also brings back the 2011 “Banned” packaging, featuring a large X across the lid and the phrase “Imagine If” on the side, giving this Low OG a true collector’s feel.
Full family sizing is planned, with a release date of May 18.
