The Chicago Bulls announced Monday afternoon that they have cut ties with guard Jaden Ivey for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Ivey went live on social media, taking the NBA to task during the nearly hour-long stream for the league’s Pride Month celebration.
“The world proclaims LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month—and the NBA does too. They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month, to celebrate unrighteousness.’”
They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it in the streets.
Unrighteousness. So how is it that one can’t speak righteousness?
Ivey was taken with the 5th overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in the 2022 NBA Draft. In his 4 seasons with the Pistons, he put up per-game numbers of 14.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds on .430/.354/.748 splits in 27.9 minutes per contest.
He was traded to the Bulls in a three-team trade with the Timberwolves on February 3.
Before his season was cut short with a knee injury, Ivey appeared in 4 games with his new team, Ivey averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 28.8 minutes per contest.
