The speculation surrounding a potential move of Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Boston Celtics continues to gain momentum.
Veteran NBA insider Marc Stein has now publicly backed recent comments made by Bill Simmons regarding Giannis’ reported interest in Boston, adding even more fuel to one of the league’s hottest offseason rumors.
Speaking on ALLCITY NBA, Stein acknowledged Simmons was first to report the growing connection between Antetokounmpo and the Celtics.
“My old friend Bill Simmons beat me to it. Bill was the first one to talk about Giannis’ interest in Boston and from everything I’ve heard the last 2-3 weeks, his report was spot on.”
Stein’s endorsement is notable because he has long been regarded as one of the NBA’s most reliable insiders. His comments suggest the chatter linking Antetokounmpo to Boston is not merely fan speculation but something league circles are actively discussing.
The Celtics have reportedly explored numerous roster possibilities this offseason as they look to maximize their championship window around Jayson Tatum. Multiple reports have suggested Boston could be willing to discuss virtually anyone on the roster outside of Tatum if it means acquiring a generational talent such as Antetokounmpo.
Any potential deal would likely require the Celtics to move significant salary, with Jaylen Brown frequently mentioned as the centerpiece of a blockbuster package.
For now, no trade request has been made public and no deal appears imminent. However, with respected voices such as Simmons and Stein both pointing toward Boston as a legitimate possibility, the volume surrounding a Giannis-to-Celtics scenario is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
