Daytona Beach, Fla. — The Albany State Lady Golden Rams opened the 2025–26 campaign with an exhibition matchup against Division I opponent Bethune-Cookman University on Tuesday afternoon — marking the first meeting between the two programs in 37 years. Despite a strong effort, the Lady Golden Rams fell short in a competitive showing that gave fans an early glimpse of the team’s potential under Interim Head Coach Todd Triplet.
From the opening tip, Albany State displayed resilience on both ends of the floor, matching the Lady Wildcats’ tempo and defensive intensity. The Lady Golden Rams executed well in transition and showed strong communication defensively, forcing turnovers and limiting open looks from the perimeter. Although the Lady Wildcats capitalized on late-game momentum, Albany State’s poise and energy throughout the contest demonstrated the team’s depth and chemistry, which had been built early in the season.
The exhibition served as a valuable learning experience and a chance for Coach Triplet to evaluate rotations and player combinations before the regular season began. The Lady Golden Rams will now turn their focus to their official season and conference opener on Monday, November 25, where they look to carry the same intensity into Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) play.
