Ben Simmons has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Clippers and will sign with the teams once he clears waivers according to Shams Charania.
Earlier on Saturday Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets agreed on a buyout, making the enigmatic power forward a free agent. The buyout ends three underwhelming seasons in Brooklyn in which Simmons appeared in just 90 of a possible 216 games and put up per-game averages of 6.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 1.0 steals in 25.0 minutes of action.
Simmons, 28, was acquired by the Nets in a trade after James Harden sabotaged/quit to force his way out of Brooklyn. Before his mental meltdown, Simmons was a productive player who was a 3-time All-Star and All-NBA performer who put up 15.9 points, 8.1 points, and 7.7 assists per game.
If he can somewhat rebuild the shattered pieces of his sports psyche, Simmons can be a boost to the Clippers as he can provide additional playmaking and a versatile, active defender.
