MEAC announces Week 6 Basketballers of the Week

Courtesy of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Howard senior Marcus Dockery was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola. Howard’s guard Blake Harper was named Rookie of the Week, while South Carolina State forward Drayton Jones earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively. Marcus Dockery (G, 6-2, 170, Sr., Washington, D.C.)  The Maryland transfer averaged 28.0 points, 6.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for Howard. Tennessee State’s Sanders Ellis enters the transfer portal

According to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of 247 Sports, Tennessee State true freshman linebacker, Sanders Ellis has entered the transfer portal. Following Micah Gay’s unfortunate season-ending elbow injury, Ellis was moved into the starting lineup and it paid immediate dividends for the Tennessee State defense. Ellis recorded 81 tackles a mark only outpaced on the team by Ahmad Nelson’s 94. Ellis also added 14 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries. For his gridiron exploits this season Tennessee State linebacker Sanders Ellis was named an FCS Football Central Freshman All-Amwrican. Former Tenessee State standout Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was named a finalist for induction in the Black College Football Hall of Fame. Rodgers-Crowmartie was one of 24 finalist selected from a pool of ove 150 nominees.
