“Charcoal” Air Jordan VII to Return in 2027

Fans of the Air Jordan VII can rejoice, as our prayers may have finally been answered—the beloved “Charcoal” colorway is reportedly on the release docket for 2027.

Why it matters

The Air Jordan VII was the silhouette that Michael Jordan wore while capturing his second Olympic gold medal as a member of the legendary United States men’s Olympic basketball team. Later that same year, Jordan laced up the “Charcoal” VII during the 1992 NBA Finals as he led the Chicago Bulls to their second consecutive NBA championship.

Because of that history, fans of the VII have been clamoring for the return of the “Charcoal” colorway for years.

At this early juncture, there are no available images of the upcoming release. However, expectations are that the original classic will return in all its glory. The sneaker is anticipated to feature its signature charcoal foundational layer overlaid with black nubuck. A red Jumpman logo appears on the lateral ankle, while “AIR JORDAN” branding sits atop the multicolored tongue.

Additional details include the iconic “23” shield on the rear heel. The upper sits atop a black midsole accented with red and purple hits at the heel and forefoot, while a multicolored rubber outsole with Jumpman branding rounds out the design.

The “Charcoal” Air Jordan VII is expected to make its highly anticipated return in early 2027.
