DOVER, DE — Corey Perkins went off for a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, but the Delaware State men’s basketball team fell to the Navy Midshipmen 66-59 at home Wednesday.

Perkins recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Hornets (2-8). Miles Webb added nine points and eight rebounds from the bench and Dean Shepherd helped out with five points and three steals from the bench.

The Delaware State defense was a problem in Wednesday’s game, forcing 18 Navy turnovers while committing eight. Those takeaways turned into 20 points on the offensive end of the floor. Perkins’ four steals led the way individually for the Hornets.

How It Happened

Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 36-21 heading into halftime.

Delaware State narrowed its deficit to 41-29 before going on a 9-0 run to shrink the deficit to 41-38 with 13:04 to go in the contest. Navy responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 66-59. Delaware State capitalized on 12 Navy turnovers in the period, collecting 18 points off those turnovers.
