From the moment he stepped on the field for the Tigers, Rodgers-Cromartie made his presence felt. As a true freshman Rodgers- Cromartie intercepted 2 passes and took them both, a 35-yard return against Jackson State in the Southern Heritage and one of 56 yards against Samford to the house. He also scored a third touchdown that season on a two-yard fumble recovery against Eastern Illinois. In addition to his three scores on the season, Rodgers-Cromartie also recorded 33 total tackles (22 solo). DRC would record 11 interceptions, four of which he returned for touchdows. His interception would have beeen far higher but tesms quickly and prudently came to the conclusion that throwing the football to the side of the field that he was on would not be in their best interest.

Following his stellar career at Tennessee State, he was drafted wth the 16th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
