The Fisk University Bulldogs put on a show in their regular season finale, taking down HBCU rival Oakwood University 76-58. The Bulldogs came out strong in the first half, and never looked back.
Junior Michael Ashley (JR/Atlanta, GA) led the way with a double-double performance, posting 10 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Jaylen Rogers(JR/Chicago, IL) added in 15 points and Tyon Thompson (SO/Cincinnati, OH) chipped in 16 points, providing a great all-around effort from the Bulldogs.
This victory sealed the regular season conference play for the Bulldogs, and they now look ahead to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Championship next week in Jackson, MS, at Tougaloo College. The Bulldogs have now moved to an 6-8 overall record in conference play, and will be looking to make a deep run in the tournament.
The Bulldogs have been playing great basketball as of late, and if their win against Oakwood University is any indication, the GCAC Championship should be an exciting one. All eyes will be on the Bulldogs to see if they can make a statement in the tournament and continue their impressive play.
