Former NBA player Tony Allen was arrested Wednesday in Arkansas on drug charges.

Allen was the passenger in a vehicle driven by William Hatton when a traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle by Poinsett County (Arkansas) Sheriff’s Deputies.
According to the police report “During the contact, a deputy detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, leading him to direct both individuals to exit the car.”
Allen was subsequently searched and found him to be in possession of marijuana; the search also uncovered various drug related accoutrements, of which Hatton admitted to be the owner.
A white powdery found in a cigarette box that was laying on Allen’s seat tested positive for cocaine.
Hatton and Allen both face charges of possession of meth or cocaine (less than 2 grams) and possession of marijuana (less than 4 ounces). Hatton also was charged with improper lane change and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Allen was a 14-year NBA veteran, most prominently known for his time with the Boston Celtics, where he helped Boston win the 2008 NBA Championship, and the Memphis Grizzlies. He was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team on six occasions was one of the preeminent defenders of his day and regarded as all-time great defensive player.
