Hampton football on the hunt for a new head coach

The winds of change look to be sweeping through the Hampton University football program.

Sunday Hampton University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Anthony D. Henderson Sr. announced that the University was parting ways with head football coach Trent Boykin.

“It is always difficult to make changes, particularly when it involves dedicated professionals and student-athletes,” Henderson stated. “Our commitment remains unwavering to ensuring Hampton football achieves the highest standards of excellence on and off the field. We want to thank Coach Boykin for his dedication and leadership and wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Coach Boykin had been on the Hampton staff for 5 seasons, serving as running backs and special teams coach. He was elevated to interim head coach before the start of the 2024 season and was officially named the 22nd head coach in program history on October 16
