The Charlotte Hornets are in the market for a new radio broadcaster.
Thursday the announced that John Focke had broadcasted his last game with the club.
Focke had been suspended earlier in the month after using a racial slur in a now-deleted tweet about Monday’s playoff game between the Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets, only he didn’t say “Nuggets.”
He would apologize in a subsequent tweet, however with device now offering predictive text and auto correct, it is more than a fair assumption that the N-word is something that he thumbs out on the regular.
The team had this to say in a statement: “Since this is a personnel matter, the organization will not comment any further. The Hornets thank John for all of his efforts during the 2019-20 season.”
The 2019-20 season marked first, and apparently last, season broadcasting for the club.
