WASHINGTON (January 31, 2026) – Guards Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) and Bryce Harris(Brentwood, N.Y.) each scored 27 points to lead the Howard University men’s basketball team to an 88-60 win over Norfolk State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown at Burr Gymnasium.
Taylor, a junior transfer from Morehouse College, connected on 9-of-10 from the field, 8-of-9 from the free throw line and just missed a double-double with 9 boards.
Harris, a 6-foot-4 graduate, was equally effective, hitting on 8-of-11 from the floor, 9-of-10 from the charity stripe, eight rebounds and a blocked shot.
The dynamic duo took turns outmuscling the Spartans and finished off several plays with dunks.
Howard began to pull away with a burst to end the first half with a 42-28 lead at intermission.
An 11-0 early second half run proved to be the difference as the Bison once led by as much as 32 points, 83-51.
Howard was coming off a heartbreaking 78-77 home loss to Morgan State Saturday (Jan. 24) and appeared ready to atone for the defeat.
“We had a good practice this week,” explained Howard Head Coach Kenneth Blakeney. “We were able to go out and execute the game plan.”
But it was not just the Taylor-Harris Show.
Junior guard Cam Gillus (Falls Church, Va.) had a steady game with nine points, five assists and five rebounds.
Junior guard Alex Cotton (Carrollton, Texas), who has struggled of late, contributed with eight points and five rebounds in 17-plus minutes.
It was one of Howard’s better shooting performances of the season as they connected on 54-percent (27-of-50), including 9-of-19 from beyond the arc and 25-of-29 (86-percent) from the free throw line.
Reserve sophomore guard Isaiah Brown (Ramsey, N.J.) had one of his better games with six points and five assists as did freshman center Danas Kazakevicius (Vilnius, Lithuania) with six points, three assists and three steals in 25 minutes of play.
The Spartans had shooting woes, connecting on 19-of-55 (34-percent shooting) from the field. Jordan Leaks led Norfolk State with 13 points and Anthony McComb III added 11 points in the loss.
“I have so much respect for Coach (Robert) Jones and the Norfolk State program,” Blakeney added. “They have done so much to set a standard in this conference.”
NEXT UP: Howard has a quick turnaround as it travels to Baltimore to take on the Eagles of Coppin State Monday (Feb. 2) at 6 p.m.
