Howard women’s soccer to take on George Mason Thursday

 Howard University women’s soccer team returns to Greene Stadium Thursday (Aug. 22), hosting DMV rival George Mason on International Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

HU looks to stay unbeaten in the young season (1-0-1).

Monday (Aug. 19), the Northeast Conference (NEC) unveiled its weekly accolades where sophomore forward Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.) took home the league’s Player of the Week award. On the young season, she leads the NEC with four points.

The Bison have been picked to finish third in the preseason, led by longtime head coach Brent Leiba, who is entering his 15th year.

GEORGE MASON

George Mason is seeking its first win of the season (0-1-1).

In their last outing, the Patriots tied with Campbell, 3-3, led by Katelyn O’Donnell and Josie Stockett each scoring in the stalemate.

Aaron Brunner enters his first season at the helm after winning a national championship with Florida State as an assistant coach.

LAST TIMEOUT

Sunday (Aug. 18), the Bison tied with rival Hampton, 0-0, despite several opportunities in Norfolk, Va.

Rookie Hailey Ayers (Lorton, Va.) made her first collegiate start at goalie, registering a shutout tie in 90 minutes of action.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Howard takes on Richmond in nonconference action Sunday (Aug. 25). Match time is scheduled for 2 p.m.on ESPN+.
