Howard’s Bryson Baker garners NEC Postseason Recognition

SOMERSET, N.J. (November 8, 2022) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) unveiled its men’s soccer postseason honors where Howard University sophomore Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) received recognition for his outstanding performance during the 2022 campaign. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Maryland native earned All-NEC First Team honors after ranking sixth in the league with six goals and 13 points. On Oct. 10, Baker won NEC Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals in the tie versus LIU (Oct. 9). Baker’s best performance of the season came in the victory over VMI (Sept. 18), producing his second career hat trick (three goals).
 
LIU junior Emil Jaaskelainen won NEC Player of the Year while Saint Francis (Pa.) newcomer Jordaine Jaeger claimed Rookie of the Year.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson had three Knights take home honors: Hugo Bacharach – NEC Defensive Player of the Year; Spencer King – NEC Goalkeeper of the Year and Seth Roland & Staff – NEC Coach of the Year.
 
Despite not making the tournament, head coach Phillip Gyau and the Bison look to rebound from this season and prepare for the 2023 campaign.
