Earlier today the Los Angeles Lakers announced that point guard Isaiah Thomas will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his injured right hip Thursday.
According to ESPN.com’s Adrian Wojnarowski Dr. Bryan Kelly of the Hospital for Special Surgery, who will be performing the surgery, had this to say:
We will be doing a minimally invasive procedure to ‘clean up’ the joint of all inflammatory debris related to his injury from last season.
Monday, Thomas went to New York to meet with a specialist to explore corrective options for the ailing hip.
Thomas actually suffered the torn labrum and femoral-acetabular impingement during the 2016-17 regular season. He reaggravated the issue during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavaliers.
This season with with both the Cavaliers and the Lakers, Thomas was averaging 15.8 point and 4.8 assist on 37.3 percent from the field and 29.3 percent on threes.
