Josh Giddey, Bulls agree to 4 year, $100 million deal

After protracted negotiations that languished throughout the offseason, the Chicago Bulls and Josh Giddey have agreed on a 4-year, $100 million deal.

With no major free agents acquired, resigning Giddey was a high priority for the Bulls. The two sides were initially far apart on numbers as Giddey’s side was reportedly looking for approximately $30 million a year, while the team was looking at paying the potentially budding star closer to $20 million per annum.

The restricted free agent is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 14.6 points, with his rebounds (8.1), assists (7.2), and steals (1.2), all being career highs. The 37.8% clip from which he shot from downtown is also a high-water mark for Giddey. He was just the 8th player in league history to average at least 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, joining the likes of Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and Luka Dončić.

The 4th year pro recorded 7 triple-doubles last season, which was the second most in Bulls history, trailing only the 15 posted by Michael Jordan in the 1988-89 campaign.

Giddey, the no.6 overall selection in the 2021 NBA Draft, was acquired in a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder that sent veteran and fan favourite, guard Alex Caruso to the Thunder.
