Wednesday afternoon the U. S Basketball Writers Association named University of Southern California guard JuJu Watkins their Player of the Year.
After a phenomenal freshman campaign, the Lady Trojans sophomore sensation averaged 23.9 points 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game as she helped lead USC to a 30-3 overall record and a 16-1 mark in the Big 10. In another season chock full of accolades including Sporting News National Player of the Year, USBWA, Sporting News, and AP First Tram All-America and Big Ten Player of the Year.
She was also named as a finalist for the Naismith Trophy, given to the nation’s top men’s and women’s player, the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and the Wade Trophy, the oldest and most esteemed national player of the year in women’s college hoops.
Watkins joins Lisa Leslie as the only Trojans to win the USBWA Player of the Year
