Tuesday, Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder to repair an impingement.
The surgery and subsequent recovery means the end of Irving’s season.
It was an injury-riddled 2019-20 campaign for Irving , with a myriad of injuries limiting him to just 20 games. In those 20 games, Irving was at an All-NBA level, 27.4 points, 6.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds per contest.
The Nets will look to head into the next season will a full healthy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as they will look to makes one serious noise in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Irving’s injury does close the curtain on 2019-20; at 26-33 the Nets currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot.
