FORT VALLEY, Ga. — The Lane College women’s basketball team continued its strong SIAC play on Wednesday evening, pulling away in the second half for a 72–49 road victory over Fort Valley State at the Health and Physical Education Complex.

Lane improved to 7–1 overall and 6–1 in SIAC action, using a balanced scoring attack and relentless effort on the glass to control the contest from start to finish. The Dragons never trailed, opening the game with a 20–15 first-quarter advantage before taking a 34–30 lead into halftime.

The turning point came in the third quarter, where Lane asserted its dominance with a 23–13 run. Strong interior play and second-chance opportunities fueled the surge, pushing the Dragons’ lead to double digits and silencing the home crowd. Lane carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, limiting Fort Valley State to just six points while closing out the 72–49 win.

Dyani Bernstine led all scorers with 15 points and added eight rebounds, going 11-of-16 from the free-throw line. Jahniya Brown contributed eight points and six rebounds, while Alexis Rowe added seven points. Lane’s depth was on full display, as the Dragons received 33 points from the bench and outrebounded the Wildcats 58–38.

Defensively, Lane forced 29 turnovers and converted them into 33 points, while also holding Fort Valley State to 20 percent shooting in the fourth quarter. The Dragons also dominated inside, scoring 44 points in the paint and collecting 30 second-chance points.

The win moves Lane into first place in the SIAC.
