The Air Jordan 15 has the unfortunate distinction of following the iconic Air Jordan XIV, which was the last sneaker that Michael Jordan wore as a Chicago Bull ( and was thought to be the last he would ever wear in the NBA, as he retired after the 1998 season).
When it was released in 1999 the 15 was both ridiculed and even reviled for its design, which featured a prominently protruding tongue, inspired by MJ’s tongue extending on his exciting and explosive forays to the basket. With its overly narrow lacing setup and fit issues, performance-wise, the XV was also seen as inferior to its predecessor, the Air Jordan XIV.
In 2026, the Air Jordan XV is primed to make a retail return. Although there are no available images of the upcoming release, there is speculation that these will undergo a slight aesthetic alteration in that the tongue will protrude as is the case on standard models.
Additionally, they are predicted to sport a black weave and muslin leather upper. A Jumpman should appear on the rubber section that wraps the rear heel, which also contains a black stripe that should read “23 6 15.”
A muslin midsole and rubber outsole are expected to complete this aesthetic.
The “Muslin/Black” Air Jordan 15 SP is expected to debut on June 6, 2026. More to come on these as information becomes available.
