Norfolk State’s Ings and Darden to take part in NBPA HBCU Top 50 Camp

Norfolk State basketballers Jaylani Darden and Christian Ings will participate in the seventh annual National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) HBCU Top 50 Camp, which takes place this week at Morehouse College from July 31 through August 2.

This season, Ings posted per game averages of 12.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists on .489/.473/.736 shooting splits and was named to the All-MEAC Third Team. The high flying guard also put his dunking prowess on display, winning the College Slam Dunk Championship.

In 28 starts for the Spartans last season, Darden averaged 6.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Darden was fourth in the MEAC with 1.4 steals per game, with a career high of 5 coming against Delaware State on February 17.

Patterned after the renowned NBPA Top 100 camp, the camp aims to focus on the development of top-tier HBCU athletes, both on and off the court.

In addition to sharpening their basketball skills, the two and a half day camp will include sessions that focus on leadership, career development, and mental wellness.
