Norfolk State’s Juwan Carter and Justin Smith found the end zone this past Saturday against Toledo, and the result ended up being the winner of the first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Fans’ Play of the Week poll of the 2021 season.
Near the end of the first quarter, Carter — the MEAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year — dropped back after a fake handoff and found Smith down the middle of the field just inside the 10-yard line. Smith caught the ball and was immediately wrapped up by two defenders… but he ducked out of their grasp, spun around and jogged into the end zone.
The result: a 47-yard strike that cut Toledo’s lead to 14-7.
