For his gridiron exploits this past week, North Carolina Central wide receiver Chauncey Spikes was named Stats Perform HBCU National Player of the Week.
In the Eagles’ 35-14 win over Howard Saturday, the senior hauled in 9 passes for a career-high 208 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 208 yards of production were the most in a game since 1990 and the 5th highest such mark in NCCU program history.
On the season, Burtonsville, MD native has caught 37 passes for 550 yards and 6 touchdowns. Spikes currently sits atop the MEAC in yards per game (68.6), longest reception (80 yards), and touchdowns (6).
The Eagles return to action Saturday, when they host Norfolk State at 2 p.m. EST.
